Terms of Use

Last updated: 6 August 2026

These terms cover the Kesto app and the optional Kesto Plus purchase. Using the app means you accept them.

What Kesto is

Kesto is a budgeting tool. It records what you tell it and does arithmetic on it. It is not financial advice, not a bank, and not connected to your accounts; the numbers it shows are only as right as what you and your partner logged.

Your household

A household is shared by the people who joined it. Anything you log is visible to your partner, and anything they log is visible to you. That is the entire point of the app, and it is worth being sure about before you pair.

Kesto Plus

The core of Kesto is free and stays free. Kesto Plus is optional and adds: the smart helpers without the monthly allowance, and the full spending history and reports beyond the free three months. One purchase covers both partners in the same household.

Fair use of the smart helpers

The smart helpers run on paid AI infrastructure, so both tiers have a monthly allowance: a small free taster, and a Plus allowance set far above ordinary use. It exists to stop one runaway device, not to ration normal budgeting. Automated or bulk use of these features is not allowed.

Your data

Your budget data is yours. Settings gives you a CSV export and a full JSON backup at any time, on the free tier too, and account deletion is in the same place. What we do with data is described in the privacy policy.

Availability and liability

Kesto is provided as it is, without warranty. It is an independent app maintained by one developer: outages, bugs and mistakes are possible, and while we take backups and durability seriously, you should keep your own export of anything you cannot afford to lose. To the extent the law allows, liability is limited to what you paid for the app in the twelve months before a claim.

Ending it

You can stop using Kesto at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend an account that abuses the service or attempts to break its security.

Law

Dutch law applies, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live.
