KestoBudget together

Delete your account

Last updated: 17 August 2026

Kesto is a shared budget for two people, so deleting an account has to answer one question before anything else: what happens to the other person's money. The short version is that your account and your own data go, and a partner who is still in the household keeps the budget you shared. Your leaving must never delete their plan.

In the app, in about ten seconds

This is the fastest route and needs nobody's help:

  1. Open Kesto and tap More, the fourth tab at the bottom right.
  2. Tap Settings, then Account.
  3. Tap Delete account and confirm once.
  4. Confirm the Google or Apple sign-in prompt. Your account provider requires a recent sign-in before an account can be deleted, which is what stops somebody else deleting yours.

The app returns to the sign-in screen with nothing left to sign back in to.

If you have already uninstalled the app

Email rostami@outlook.com from the address you signed in with, with the subject Kesto account deletion. That address is how your account is found, so if you used Sign in with Apple and chose to hide your email, send the relay address Apple gave you (it ends in @privaterelay.appleid.com) or tell us the display name on the household.

Requests are handled within 30 days, and normally within a few days. You will get a reply confirming when it is done. Nothing is charged, and you do not have to give a reason.

What is deleted

What stays, and why

If a partner is still in the household when you leave, the household's shared data stays with them: the budgets you built together, the spends both of you logged, and the bills. It is their budget too, and deleting it out from under them would be the wrong default. Your membership, your name and your account are removed from it.

If you would rather everything went, ask your partner to delete their account as well, or delete yours last. The final member to leave takes the household with them.

Take a copy first, if you want one

Deletion cannot be undone, and Kesto keeps no backup it could restore you from. Before you delete, Settings offers a CSV export and a complete JSON backup of everything, free, whether or not you have Kesto Plus. Nobody's data is ever trapped in this app.

Subscriptions

Deleting your account does not cancel a Kesto Plus subscription, because the subscription belongs to your Apple Account or your Google Play account and only they can end it. Cancel it in the App Store or Google Play subscription settings, otherwise it renews after the account is gone.

Retention

Deletion is immediate, not scheduled: the records above are removed when you confirm, or when your emailed request is processed. Google Cloud may retain routine backups of its infrastructure for a short period as part of normal operation, after which nothing of yours remains.
